DESIGN LEAD IN AI LAB

2025

RAKbank

Design Lead, AI Lab

Joining a newly formed team at RAKbank in 2025 with no roadmap, limited cross-department visibility, and knowledge siloed within product management, Kristina did not wait for a brief. Within 10 months, she defined the problem space, mapped the product landscape, identified strategic gaps, and built the frameworks, guidelines, and strategy needed to move the organisation forward.

Her work was not about simply using AI. It was about designing products fundamentally powered by it—and ensuring that every team, from product managers to content designers and engineers, understood how to build them.

Mapping the ecosystem — beyond what management could see

AI work was deliberately kept within management silos. Through interviews with the head of innovation and PMs — and by drawing on her network of designers across the company — Kristina built the first full picture of every AI initiative in the organisation. The mapping revealed products being built for customer-facing digital, internal tooling, conversational interfaces, and multiple business units with entirely different customer segments. Even the head of the lab lacked this overview. It was the first evidence that the ecosystem problem was bigger than anyone had admitted.
